WHO growth chart calculator

The World Health Organization's Child Growth Standards describe how healthy, well-nourished children are expected to grow. They are the reference of choice for infants and toddlers in most of the world and are recommended under 24 months by the WHO, AAP, and NHS.

Enter your child's birth date, measurement date, sex, and weight and/or length/height below. The calculator plots the measurement against the 3rd, 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, 95th, and 97th percentile bands, and returns the exact percentile via the LMS method. The calculator opens with WHO pre-selected — switch to CDC via the Standard dropdown (or on the dedicated page) if your clinician prefers it.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use WHO growth charts instead of CDC?

WHO Child Growth Standards are recommended worldwide for children under 24 months because they describe how healthy, breastfed children grow under optimal conditions. Most pediatric guidelines (AAP, NHS, WHO) suggest WHO from birth to 2 years, then switching to CDC for older children in the US.

What age range do WHO charts cover?

The WHO Child Growth Standards cover 0–60 months (0–5 years). For measurements above 60 months, this tool automatically falls back to CDC reference data.

What is the difference between length-for-age and stature-for-age?

Length is measured lying down and is used for infants under 24 months. Stature (or height) is measured standing and is used from 24 months onward. WHO provides separate length-for-age (0–24mo) and height-for-age (24–60mo) tables; this calculator picks the correct one automatically.

Are the WHO tables updated?

The current WHO Child Growth Standards were published in 2006 based on the Multicentre Growth Reference Study, which tracked over 8,000 children from six countries. They have not been superseded.
